Video: George Lyles of The Turkey Grill in Detroit talks Turkey and Higher Prices

November 19, 2021, 10:16 PM

Thanksgiving for George Lyles is like tax season for an accountant: Very busy.

Lyles, owner of The Turkey Grill at 8290 Woodward Ave in Detroit's North End, says business is brisk, but prices are up. A smoked or deep fried turkey is $65, compared to about $55 last year.

"Turkeys are very expensive right now, we're not able to get it at the same price as last year."

To make sure he doesn't over extend himself, he's selling them on a first-come, first-served basis. He is still taking orders for full dinners, which cost $164 for a turkey and three sides.

Lyles spoke to Michael Lucido of Deadline Detroit the other day.
