A national commercial released Christmas Week by Amazon showcases Mackinac Island as an example of a remote community grateful for ferried-in boxes with a familiar logo -- expecially during the pandemic.
The 96-second spot (below), filled with street-level and overhead holiday footage of the resort outpost, shows a box of holiday lights arriving for last year's tree-lighting ceremony. The last leg from dockside to downtown involves dray horses and a wagon, naturally.
"When we enforced a lockdown on all our city buildings, at points I wondered how we were going to get through it," Mayor Margaret Doud says in one scene.
