I currently have no symptoms, and I’m grateful that being vaccinated protects against serious illness. I encourage everyone to keep doing all they can to keep each other safe. pic.twitter.com/cfrs7Fvlxt
Gilchrist, a 39-year-old native Detroiter, is raising 7-year-old twins and a 2-year-old daughter with his wife Ellen. He was elected in 2018 and is virtually sure to run for a second term in November.
The lieutenant governor's news comes as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is isolating herself from her husband, Marc Mallory, who felt ill and tested positive last Tuesday. A rapid test and a subsequent PCR test showed Whitmer was negative for the virus.
