Greektown's 22-year-old casino is getting a makeover and new name.
Owner Penn National Gaming tells Crain's Detroit that starting May 1, the iconic casino-hotel will be called "Hollywood at Greektown."
It's a rebrand to inaugurate $100 million in ongoing upgrades following the company's 2019 purchase of the site from Dan Gilbert's Jack Gaming.
They include:
... a new lobby, updated hotel rooms, cashless features for bettors and a partnership with a local entertainment venue to bring in more national acts.
A Dunkin' coffee shop has been added in the lobby. There are also plans for a restaurant and 1,700-seat entertainment venue, where Boyz II Men, Dionne Warwick and Pat Benatar are already scheduled to play later this year.
"Part of our business is looking for different ways to bring people in, even people who don't like to gamble," said (Marvin Beatty, Greektown vice president of community relations). "What we're doing is creating a huge amount of variety and new possibilities for our customers. We want to have something for everyone."
This is reportedly the company's 43rd Hollywood Casino in the U.S.
