She was sneered at as the "establishment-backed candidate" on the debate stage Wednesday night, but on Thursday Tudor Dixon picked up another perk of being in the establishment's good graces -- an endorsement from former Gov. John Engler.

Engler had been backing former Detroit Police chief James Craig for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, but after Craig's flame-out with a forged-signature issue, transferred his allegiance to the Norton Shores conservative commentator.
"Tudor Dixon is a common-sense, optimistic leader whose integrity and willingness to listen to people and understand how they are thinking through and responding to the extraordinary pressures of our time sets her apart from the current leadership in Lansing," Engler said in a statement that was released by Dixon's campaign. "Tudor knows that to restore a Michigan that works we need practical solutions that will improve people’s lives."
Dixon also is endorsed by Michigan Right to Life, the Detroit Regional Chamber, the DeVos family organization, The Detroit News and various state lawmakers.
The primary election is Aug. 2.
