Republican congressman Peter Meijer's primary loss to a Trump-aligned rival hasn't thwarted his political ambitions.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by reporters from Vice News, Reason and elsewhere, the 34-year-old spoke in broad strokes about his plans for the future. They include being "very impactful" and "quite possibly" running for Congress or another elective office.
They do not include endorsing John Gibbs, the self-described "ultraconservative" who worked for Trump in the White House and won his endorsement.
“I don’t have any plans to,” MLive reports he said on the Fifth Column Podcast. “I haven’t endorsed anybody.”
Meijer fell to Gibbs by a nearly 4-point margin. Though he outspent him by about 10 to 1, the freshman representative was unable to overcome backlash over his vote to impeach the former president. Still, Meijer's said he has no regrets.
