Two people in their early 60s were shot within three miles of each other on Detroit's west side early Wednesday morning, Detroit police say. Both were sitting in their cars in their driveways.

The first shooting was on Santa Rosa, near Livernois and south of 8 Mile, around 1:15 a.m., authorities say. Residents heard more than 10 rounds fired followed almost immediately by sirens, according to posts on Nextdoor. One neighbor tells Deadline Detroit the bullets went off in close succession, as if from a high-powered weapon. A 63-year-old man was hit.

Within an hour and a half, a similar shooting occured on Griggs Street near Wyoming, just south of Six Mile. That one hit a 62-year-old woman.

Both victims are reportedly in serious condition in the hospital.

Police say they have limited information and don't yet know whether the shootings are related or random. They come after a 19-year-old on Sunday allegedly shot four people, killing three, in a series of unprovoked attacks.
