Weird stuff happens with voting machines in Michigan.

Michigan State Police are investigating how a polling place device wound up for sale on eBay last month for $1,200, CNN reports.

The voter assist terminal was first purchased online by an Ohio Uber driver from a Goodwill Industries thrift store in Cadillac for $7.99.

It was then purchased on eBay by a cyber security expert in Connecticut, who notified Michigan authorities, the cable news chnnel reports.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson issued a statement:

"We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate allegations of an illegal attempt to sell a voter assist terminal acquired in Michigan. Voter assist terminals are not used to tabulate ballots, but are typically used by voters with disabilities who need assistance marking their ballot privately at polling places.

"While our elections remain secure and safe, we take seriously all violations of election law and will be working with relevant authorities to ensure there are consequences for those who break the law."

In an unrelated matter, Attorney General Dana Nessel seeks a special prosecutor to investigate allegations that GOP attorney general candidate Matthew DePerno and others worked to get access to examine voting machines in Michigan following the 2020 election.
