Ja’Miyah Lawrence, a dancer, hoped to attend MSU.

Ja’Miyah Lawrence, 16, has been identified as one of the fatalities in a random shooting spree on Detroit’s west side a week ago.

Lawrence was killed around 5:30 a.m. last Sunday near Margareta and Wyoming avenues., WDIV reports.

Dontae Ramon Smith, 19, of Detroit is charged in the spree that left three dead, including Lawrence, and one wounded. Until Friday, police had not been able to identify Lawrence.

Lawrence, a high school senior, planned to apply to Michigan State University.  Latoya Foster tells WDIV that her daughter was an honor roll student, a dancer, nacho lover and would use any chance she had to help her mom study for her nursing program.

“She would put herself and her issues aside and just love on you,” Foster said. “I think, as a mom, that’s what I’m going to miss the most, because you took something so dear to me.”
