April 24, 2023, 8:55 AM

Supino Pizzeria in Eastern Market, one of the more popular pizza joints in the city, suffered water damage on Monday afternoon from a fire in an apartment upstairs, above the shop, Fox 2 reports.

"The heroes from the DFD are here taking care of business," Supino posted on Instagram. "Thank God no one was hurt. The fire was contained in the apartment upstairs but there is lots of incidental water damage. I’ve received an overwhelming amount of loving and supportive texts and phone calls- please know if I didn’t respond to you that I appreciate it so much! We’ll update here as we know more."

Detroit Fire Department crews battled the fire at Russell and the Fisher Service Drive as flames shot out of the window, Fox 2 reports. The fire displaced people in all the units above the shop, Fox 2 reports.

Supino has a second location on Woodward, near W. Grand Blvd., in Detroit's New Center area.
