Harris Tries to Regain Support of Michigan Arab Americans. 'We're in Listening Mode,' Dearborn-based Publisher Says.

President Joe Biden appeared to have lost a lot of support among Arab Americans in Michigan over the Israeli-Gaza war. Those anti-Biden sentiments likely accounted for many of the 100,000 uncommitted votes in Michigan's presidential primary in February.

Now, Vice President Kamala Harris, who is expected to be the Democratic nominee for president, wants to see if she can win back Arab Americans, who could potentially play a pivotal role in the Michigan race this November.

The Associated Press reports that top officials from both major political parties have been asking Osama Siblani, publisher of the Dearborn-based Arab American News if Harris can regain the support of Arab Americans and Muslims.

 “We are in listening mode," he has responded.

Community leaders have expressed a willingness to listen, and some have had initial conversations with Harris' team. Many had grown exasperated with Biden after they felt months of outreach had not yielded many results.
