Jason Lynch Lafond, 55, of St. Clair Shores, is accused of trying to run over Harris/Walz supporters in October outside a VFW hall.
On Friday, he waived his right to a preliminary examination, the Macomb Daily reports.
Lafond will now be arraigned March 3 in Macomb County Circuit Court. Lafond’s attorney, Joe Arnone, said he's been in plea discussions with prosecutors.
Trump supporters outside the VFW Bruce Post on Jefferson Avenue near Martin Road in St. Clair Shores had been displaying and distributing campaign material before Oct. 12, according to Macomb Daily reporter Jameson Cook.
But on Oct. 12, the St. Clair Shores Democratic Club was handing out material outside the VFW hall. Lafond went to the group looking for Trump material, the publication reports.
When he learned the volunteers were handing out Harris/Walz material, an agitated Lafond allegedly shouted derogatory slurs and vowed to "exterminate" people like them once Trump won.
He then got in his vehicle and drove toward the volunteers who had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck, the Macomb Daily reports.
