Lila's Pierogi on Five Mile Road in Livonia is closing soon after more than two decades in business.

"Thank you for 21 years of making pierogi for you and your family," the shop posted on Facebook. "Unfortunately this will be our last Spring here, we will be closing soon. Please stop by and load up on your favorite pierogi."

The exact date of the closing has yet to be announced.

The Detroit Free Press reports:

"The easiest reason is...I'm moving to Tennesse," said Connie Calimazzo, who co-owns the business with her husband Antonio Calimazzo and his mother – the business namesake – Waleria “Lila” Orlowska.

But rising costs and shifting customer habits also played a role in the decision, she said.

“I put egg in all of my dough, so the cost to make (pierogi) is high," Calimazzo said. "And customers aren’t coming as in much as they used to. It’s more of an after-they-buy-their-grocery kind of thing. So our sales have gone down, our prices have gone up.”
