Yes, it's true.

The Detroit Tigers, who beat the Texas Rangers 2–1 on Friday night, are tied for the best record in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers—the team that swept the Tigers in a three-game series at the start of the season.

Both teams are 26–13. The Tigers are also 2.5 games ahead of second-place Cleveland in the American League Central.

So far, the Tigers’ pitching has been outstanding. Their bats have come alive, and two players who were written off at the end of last season—Javier Báez and Spencer Torkelson—are having great seasons. Báez, enjoying his first strong season with the Tigers, is batting .308. Torkelson, who struggled to hit fastballs last year, is batting .250 with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs.

The Tigers play the Texas Rangers on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. at Comerica Park.
