Last December, WDIV's Devin Scillian stepped down from the anchor desk after 30 years at the station. We assume he left with a cushy buyout, just like some of his colleagues, including Bernie Smilovitz.
But we haven’t heard the last of him. He has shared his opinions on podcasts and in op-ed pieces. And now, “Devin Scillian and the Arizona Son” will perform this Friday (June 20) at the Cadieux Café, at 4300 Cadieux Rd. on Detroit’s east side. The band plays traditional country, bluegrass and Southern rock.
The posting for the peformance says:
Devin is equally at home on your television, on your bookshelf, and on your iTunes. School children, teachers and parents know him as the writer behind the Memoirs series including Memoirs of a Goldfish, winner of the Wanda Gag Award as the nation's best read aloud book. Television viewers in Michigan and Ontario know him as their evening news anchor on WDIV-TV, NBC in Detroit. And music lovers know him as the winner of the prestigious Detroit Music Award for Best Country Performer.
Devin Scillian, a renowned singer, songwriter, and television personality, is joined by the talented Arizona Son, creating a dynamic duo that brings raw emotion and storytelling to every song. Together, they'll perform a mix of original tunes and timeless classics, weaving together captivating melodies and rich harmonies that will have you tapping your feet and singing along.
