Fired Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, who saw his life fall apart this week, was charged Friday with third-degree felony home invasion and two misdemeanors: stalking and breaking and entering.

Ann Arbor District Court Magistrate Odetalla Odetalla set a $25,000 cash/surety bond and ordered Moore to refrain from any contact with the alleged victim, continue any mental health treatment, and wear a tether to track his whereabouts.

Moore, dressed in white prison garb, appeared virtually from a closet-sized room in the Washtenaw County Jail. He said very little, responding only "yes your honor" to questions from the judge.

The Washtenaw County Jail system indicated that he was released in the afternoon.

The University of Michigan announced his firing on Wednesday, saying he violated school policy by having an inappropriate relationship with a football staff member. Moore married in 2015 and has three daughters.

That same afternoon, police said Moore went to the 3000 block of Ann Arbor–Saline Road in Pittsfield Township, where the staffer lives in an apartment. Police were called at about 4:10 p.m.

During a livestreamed hearing, Kati Rezmierski, first assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County, told the judge that Moore poses a danger to the public.

She said he barged into the apartment and grabbed knives from a kitchen drawer and told the staffer, whom he'd had a relationship for years, “I’m going to kill myself. I’m going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands, you ruined my life."

She said Moore made threatening and intimidating remarks and only left after she called her attorney and threatened to call police.

TMZ, which obtained police dispatch calls, reported that Moore’s wife said he was suicidal due to the firing. There was also a dispatch call mentioning stalking.

Saline police arrested him at a church parking lot and transferred him to Pittsfield Township police, where the alleged incident occurred. By 8:30 p.m., Moore had been booked into the Washtenaw County Jail.

The judge said Moore could be released after posting bond and being fitted with a tether.

The Daily Mail reported Thursday that the salary of the woman he was allegedly having an affair with increased by about $41,000 between 2023 and this season.
