California-based Trader Joe's has plans to open a store at 27658 Middlebelt Rd. in Farmington Hills this year.
"We’re happy to be part of your community, and proud to offer you unique products and an exceptional shopping experience every day," the company said in a press release.
The new Farmington Hills store is one of eight locations the chain plans to open around the country in 2026.
In Michigan, the company currently has stores in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Kalamazoo, Kentwood, Northville, Rochester Hills and Royal Oak.
Back in 2015, Deadline Detroit did a story asking if Trader Joe's had plans to open in Detroit. The answer:
"We're always looking for new sites, but we have nothing immediately planned" for Detroit.
That was 11 years ago. So far, no Trader Joe's in Detroit.
