It's adios for the annual Hoedown in Detroit, the country music festival that began in 1983. Over the years, it's attracted some of the biggest names in the industry including George Jones, Merle Haggard, Tanya Tucker and Garth Brooks.

It's condensed to a single-day event July 31 at the Clarkston's DTE Energy Music Theatre, Brian McCollum of the Detroit Free Press reports. The headliners are Brad Paisley and Chris Young.

This is the third home in five years for the Hoedown. For three decades, it was held at Hart Plaza before moving in 2012 to Comerica Park. Last year, it was held at Detroit's new West Riverfront Park.
