Violet is a Detroit-based investigative journalist focused on the intersection of government and the community it serves. She writes about public policy, police accountability, and government ethics and transparency.
Prior to pursuing in-depth news, Violet spent six years as a general assignment radio and television reporter. She worked in West Virginia, Ohio, Detroit, New York and Washington, where she covered the 2016 presidential election and other top national stories for the Associated Press Broadcast News Center.
In 2019, she was named Young Journalist of the Year by the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
