Logo products aren't just for bands, teams and clothiers.
Even Detroit's police force "could soon bring more into the kitty for training and equipment with things like branded onesies and shot glasses," Crain's Detroit Business says.
In the past month, the department has applied for trademarks for both "Detroit Police" and "DPD" to put on goods such as those, as well as cell phone battery chargers, lunch boxes, beer and coffee mugs, lap blankets and golf towers.
The branding campaign is a reaction to sales of Detroit Police items by outsiders, spokesman Michael Woody tells Kirk Pinho.
"We . . . don't want to allow just anybody to capture our logo and use it for their own messaging or personal gain."
