Lucy Carnaghi, a co-founder of the popular Rose's Fine Foods on Detroit's east side, is working on a neighborhood cafe called Wilda's on Woodward Avenue in the New Center area.

Carnaghi tells Annalise Frank of Crain's Detroit Business that the 60-seat restaurant will serve American-style food and initially serve only dinner before expanding to all three meals. She hopes to open around August.

The restaurant will fill 2,100 square feet in the Woodward Grand building at 6568 Woodward Ave.

Carnaghi's partners are Sopheana Duch, a former catering manager at Rose's, and chefs Max and Eli Sussman.

Carnaghi, a 2011 Eastern Michigan University alumna, owned Rose's on Jefferson Avenue with Molly Mitchell, a cousin. They recently split amicably. Mitchell stays with Rose's and Carnaghi moves to this new venture.

Photos of construction progress are on the restaurant's Instagram page
