14 Photos: Detroit's New Arena Is Ready for Pistons, Wings, Music and Tours Next Week

As workers wrap up the 27-month project along lower Woodward Avenue, which opens next Friday for a charity benefit, its owner shows off Detroit's new attraction.

Olympia Development of Michigan, the Red Wings and the Pistons post photos of Little Caesars Arena on social media this week. Images show a huge Gordie Howe mural, relocated sculptures of other Detroit hockey legends, Pistons banners, sun-splashed concourses and a reshaped city skyline.

Construction began April 24, 2015, seven months after a groundbreaking ceremony. Public previews begin Sept. 8 with a four-hour evening benefit for Ilitch Charities, which operates the Detroit Tigers Foundation and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. Tickets are available here for $500 and $1,000.

The rest of us can step inside for free on Saturday, Sept. 9, by getting a ticket here for one of six hourly tours from 2-7 p.m. (Don't hesitate -- an 8 p.m. tour is full and others will be any day now.)

The first events are six Kid Rock shows Sept. 12-13, 15-16 and 19-20. (Tickets are here for $55-$75.)
