Sponsor Pulls Logo from MSU Athletic Press Briefings as Coaches Feel Heat

Here's more fallout from the Larry Nassar debacle.

One of the Michigan State Athletic Department’s most visible sponsors requested the removal of its logo from a backdrop used at MSU press conferences, Tony Paul of The Detroit News reports.

Trevor Mahoney, a spokesperson for Lansing-based Auto-Owners Insurance, tells the paper his company doesn't want its branding in the backdrop at Breslin Center, one of several sponsors to publicly express concerns about affiliation with MSU.

These days, MSU's basketball and football coaches are hit with tough questions about sex allegations and athletes at press conferences.

"The company does not believe it is currently appropriate to place advertising branding on media backdrops used during discussions of serious topics that have impacted the lives of many,” Mahoney says in a statement.
