After Jennifer Hudson delivered a powerful version of "To Be Young, Gifted and Black" on the BET Awards Sunday night on CBS, a trailer for her new Aretha Franklin biopic was released.
"Respect" also stars Foster Whitaker and Marlon Wayans and portrays the Queen of Soul's rise from her childhood at her father's church, the New Bethel Baptist Church on Linwood in Detroit, to stardom in the 1960s.
The film will be released with a limited run Christmas Day. A wide release is set for early 2021, the Detroit Free Press reports.
