The joy of fall football on campus at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University is no longer a possiblity for 2020.
The Big Ten is expected to cancel the season, the Detroit Free Press reports, citing multiple unnamed sources. University presidents voted 12-2 on Sunday to skip the season. Michigan and Michigan State voted with the majority.
There has been talk of a possible spring season.
The move is a blow to fans and the universities, which generate big bucks from major sports. It's also an irresistible invitation for wisecracks:
Well I know this for sure, Michigan won't be losing to Ohio State this year.
