While Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has worked hard to keep down the number of Covid cases, the virus is spreading quickly at some Michigan prisons.
As of Thursday evening, 612 of 1,269 inmates, or 47 percent, at Muskegon Correctional Facility tested positive for Covid, along with 15 staffers, reports Angie Jackson in a story published in the Detroit Free Press.
Other facilities had major outbreaks at beginning of the pandemic in March and April.
Since March, 4,620 of 37,497 state prisoners have tested positive for COVID-19. Sixty-eight have died.
