Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to give the green light for fitness centers, theaters, bowling alleys, ice rinks and related facilities to reopen after Labor Day in lower Michigan, the Detroit Free Press reports. An announcement is expected this week.
Owners have been pressuring Whitmer to let them reopen.
The facilities, closed since March, will be subject to subject to social distancing and sanitation safety protocols. Those businesses in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula were allowed to reopen June 10.
The planned relaxation of state restrictions could change if Covid numbers spike.
