The Dime Store, a much-missed breakfast and lunch spot in downtown Detroit, is coming out of Covid hibernation and reopening on Monday.

"We're so excited to announce Dime Store will be reopening for dine in and carry out ‪on Monday," the restaurant announces on Facebook.

"We've been busy these last few months making the place shiny and new, including beautiful refinished floors, new cherry countertops and tables, fresh paint, a deep cleaning that would make even mom proud, and one change that you won't be able to see, but will feel: a new hood fan and ductwork that has vastly improved air quality and ventilation."

The business opened in August 2014 in the Chrysler House at Fort Street and Griswold. It bills itself as an "American Brunch Bar" which specilizes in "breakfast, lunch and booze."

It was voted "most creative breakfast" and "best brunch" in Detroit by Hour Magazine readers three years ago.
