With the Nov. 3 election less than seven weeks away, a Detroit Free Press poll released Friday shows Democratic nominee Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump 48-40 percent.
The survey by EPIC-MRA of Lansing has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
While the lead is significant, it's down from 11 points in July and 16 points in June.
Michigan is considered a must-win state for Biden. Trump won its 16 electoral votes in 2016 by 10,704 votes.
"It's likely to tighten up (even more) but a lot is likely to hinge on the debates," Bernie Porn, who conducted the poll, tells the Freep.
