13 Covid Cases Linked to Two Ann Arbor Restaurants

October 16, 2020, 7:08 AM

Restaurants are struggling, and news like this never helps.

The Washtenaw County Health Department reports 13 Covid cases linked to two restaurants in Ann Arbor -- the Brown Jug at 1204 S. University Avenue and Chapala Mexican Restaurant at 211  N. Main Street.

The department says customers visiting the Brown Jug from Oct. 1- 3 and Oct. 6, or Chapala Mexican Restaurant on Oct. 1, are advised to monitor for symptoms, stay away from others as much as possible for 14 days after last visiting either restaurant, and get a Covid test.  After testing, people  should avoid contact with others until getting the results.

“In most situations, we can contact individuals exposed to Covid-19 directly,” Jimena Loveluck, MSW, health officer for Washtenaw County, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, with the number of positive cases that report visiting each of these establishments at crowded times, there is a possibility of widespread, public exposure.”

As of Thursday, Washtenaw County reported 4,466 confirmed Covid cases.  In the two-weeks ending Oct. 7, about 80 percent of the cases involved 18-22 years old.
