Not the clown in question, but super-creepy (Photo: Pixabay)

It's hard to believe sometimes that clowns once delighted children with funny antics. Ever since the horror-movie industry (and John Wayne Gacy) started piling on the greasepaint, clowns seem synonymous with something really bad happening.

Especially at Halloween, as the Freep reports, when a man in a clown mask forced himself into an east side home, and...

Two women were home at the 5400 block of Seneca Street when they heard a knock at the door. The first victim, a 52-year-old woman, opened the door, and the suspect forced himself inside.

He assaulted the 52-year-old woman and shot the other resident, a 66-year-old woman, right after. Police said he also took the 66-year-old's wallet.

The 66-year-old victim went to the hospital and is in stable condition, officials said.

There's no further description other than clown mask, black hoodie, 30s, male. As the police say, be on the lookout. And kids, if you see a clown beckoning from a storm drain, back away.
