It's not unusual for a trooper to pull over an I-696 driver doing 90. It's less typical to discover a loaded assault rifle and concealed handgun also ready to fire.
That's what happened on an Oak Park stretch of the speedway around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Michigan State Police say. The stop of a Lincoln MKZ zipping along at 20 miles per hour above the limit ended with the driver's arrest.
Not a smart play to speed that fast when packing, young man.
The agency posts:
The trooper also located a loaded AR-15 rifle in the car The pistol was registered to the driver, but he did not have a CPL. The driver was lodged pending prosecutor review.
