Detroit Pistons Bad Boy Isiah Thomas and Mortgage CEO Interested in NBA Team

Detroit Pistons "Bad Boy" Isiah Thomas and the CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage Corp. have talked about buying an NBA basketball team, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

Thomas, a board member of the Pontiac-based mortgage firm, tells Crain's that he and CEO Mat Ishbia "have looked at several opportunities."

"I think Mat would be an exceptional owner of a team, and I believe when the right one comes into play, I think he'll be ready to take the reins.

"He and I are very close, and also he's one who advised me in the business space, and I've called on him quite frequently in the past to help me navigate some of our growing pains and likewise, so we have shared advice with each other," Thomas said. "We've become very good friends."
