The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix will return to Belle Isle June 11-13 after a Covid hiatus last year.
"We are excited to bring the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear back to Belle Isle in 2021 and return to a traditional one-weekend format June 11th through the 13th, featuring five great races with three incredible racing series,” Michael Montri, president of the race said in a statement.
Last year, the race was scheduled May 29-31, but was canceled due to the pandemic.
Not all will celebrate the return. Some fans of Belle Isle have been vocal about opposing the race on the island, saying it hurts the state park's character with noise, temporary facilities and restrictions on public access.
