Rather than risk a second trashing of her main local office, Rep. Debbie Dingell is relocating it from Dearborn to a nearby suburb.
"Mayor Pat Odette offered us space in Woodhaven City Hall, which was most kind," says the congresswoman, whose first-floor district office West Outer Drive was vandalized last Monday. "That has been a home office for a very long time [used earlier by her late husband John], but I need to keep my staff safe," she adds in a social media post.

The new space on Hall Road "is a secured building and next to the Police Department. It will be well-located and my team secure. ... We will still be accessible to every single constituent in the district."
In a statement the day of last week's forced entry, the fourth-term representative said she was "deeply concerned about the break-in and vandalization. ... My office has been receiving threats for months and we take them very seriously."
Dingell also has a fourth-floor Ypsilanti office at 301 W. Michigan Ave., "which will probably become the main office for now."
She describes her staff here and in Washington as "rattled," as are "all congressional staff, on both sides of the aisle, since Jan. 6. ... They are the ones that are frequently on the front lines, hear the hate, the meanness, some really awful things and hear the death threats we get ... We are lucky we have young people who do care and want to make a difference."
