Greektown Casino-Hotel in downtown Detroit shows off a $30-million renovation of its hotel lobby. It was the first major renovation since the hotel opened in 2009.

The 6,500-square-foot renovation at 1200 Saint Antoine St., which took 12 months, has a Detrot theme and includes art of the automotive industry. A cocktail bar is disguised by bookshelves before it opens at night. By summer, the lobby will include a Dunkin' Donuts.

A ribbon-cutting Wednesday featured casino executives, Police Chief James White and Deputy Mayor Conrad Mallett Jr.

The casino is also redesigning its 400 rooms and suites.

In 2019, Michigan regulators approved Dan Gilbert's $1-billion sale of the attraction to Penn National Gaming and a real estate investment trust, VICI Properties.
