Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is up for re-election in November, on Tuesday painted a doomsday scenario if supporters of ex-President Trump win this year.

"I wish I could say Trump’s dangerous lies are behind us," she tweets. "But despite all evidence to the contrary, his followers keep doubling down--including my opponent, chief architect of the hacked voting machine conspiracy theory. And if they win in Nov., democracy as we know it is over."

Nessel's Republican opponent in November is likely to be attorney Matt DePerno, who is endorsed by Trump and has been pushing unproven theories about a stolen 2020 election. DePerno has referred to Nessel as a "radical liberal."
