Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Wife Expecting Baby in the Fall

Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and wife LaTicia are expecting a baby in September. It will be their second child.

"It’s a Girl! My first girl and last child!" Kilpatrick, 53, said in a text Wednesday.

The couple, who married in July 2021, had their first child, a boy named Kyng Malachi Kilpatrick, last year. He is now 14-months old. Kilpatrick has three adult sons from his previous marriage.

The ex-mayor was sentenced in 2013 to 28 years in prison for public corruption. He served nearly eight years before President Donald Trump commuted his sentence on his last day in office in January 2021.

Kilpatrick and his wife live in Georgia and have a virtual ministry, Movemental Ministries.

Kilpatrick disclosed his wife's pregnancy on a video he posted Tuesday on Facebook. (See video below)

"God worked in the president's heart and I'm free. I have a wife, I have a baby. I have a child on the way."

He went on to talk about a "draconian, unjust"  justice system, "giving people with non-violent offenses life; 40 years, 30 years...I was thrown away and God gave me another chance."

Kilpatrick served as the 72nd mayor of Detroit from 2002 to 2008.
