The jailed parents of the Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley want to attend their son's Dec. 8 sentencing in Oakland County Circuit Court. They haven't seen him in nearly two years.

"Clearly, this is the harshest sentence the court could give to the shooter and worries both Mr. and Mrs. Crumbley considerably," defense attorneys Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman wrote in a Thursday filing on behalf of James and Jennifer Crumbley, reports Tresa Baldas of the Detroit Free Press.  "Understandably, this hearing is of paramount importance, and would be to any parent, no matter what their child has done."

Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, could likely get life without parole for the November 2021 mass killing at Oxford High School that killed four students and wounded seven others.

His parents have been in the Oakland County Jail for nearly two years, facing charges of involuntary manslaughter. The are accused of buying the son a gun and ignoring their son's cry for psychological help.

They have been locked up on bonds of $500,000 each.
