On the day that Samantha Woll, the president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue was being buried, Detroit Police Chief James White said there was no evidence that her fatal stabbing was related to her being Jewish.

"The investigation into the death of Ms. Woll remains ongoing," White said in a statement issued Sunday. "At this time, however, no evidence has surfaced suggesting that this crime was motivated by antisemitism."

"DPD investigators are working with the FBI to forensically analyze all of the information obtained up to this point in an effort to ascertain the timeline that ultimately led to Ms. Woll's death. Individuals with information that may further this investigation are being interviewed."

Woll, 40, was found fatally stabbed outside her home Saturday morning in the Laffayette Park neighborhood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Because of the intensified conflict between Israel and Hamas, and the worldwide tension, the slaying has gotten internantional attention, with some speculating without evidence that the death is related.

Her funeral Sunday at 3 p.m. at Hebrew Memorial Chapel on Greenfield in Oak Park was packed with friends and supporters and members of the downtown synagogue. Those delivering eulogies included Attorney General Dana Nessel and the synagogue's Rabbi Ariana Silverman.
