Bill Proctor, who was a fixture for 33 years at WXYZ-TV, says it's "ludicrous" when Donald Trump asserts that he's a victim of the criminal justice system like Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, or Jesus or Black people.

Proctor, who left the station in 2013, and now runs a private investigative firm, Bill Proctor & Associates, that investigates wrongful convictions, knows a thing or two about injustices that have resulted in innocent people going off to prison for many years.

In a column in the Detroit Free Press, he writes of Trump, who faces 91-criminal counts:

He’s not entirely wrong. The legal system is sometimes unfair, but not in the ways Trump suggests, and not to Trump and people like him.

Consider that Trump has bought and will continue to buy the best available defense, with $50 million in legal fees spent on just one losing civil case so far, and what that says about the stark contrast between Trump and those who are struggling, and must accept whatever the justice system throws at them.

He also notes that Trump gets away with a lot most defendants would not get away with:

If we faced criminal charges, we know it would not help our defense if we insulted or threatened that very same criminal justice system.
