RFK Jr.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose family members have officially endorsed President Joe Biden, has qualified for the ballot in Michigan, CNN reports.

Michigan is a key battleground state and could make the difference in an election between Donald Trump and Biden. National polls have been mixed, with some showing RFK Jr., 70, actually taking votes from Trump. Others have shown the opposite.

Biden beat Trump by more than 150,000 votes in 2020 in Michigan. Trump beat Hillary Clinton by 10,704 votes in 2016 in the state.

Also in 2016 in Michigan, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson garnered 172,136 votes while Green Party candidate Jill Stein got 51,463.

The Associated Press reports that Michigan is only the second state to place him on the ballot. He had already been on Utah's ballot.

His campaign or an allied super PAC say they’ve collected enough signatures in several other states, including the battlegrounds of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina, but they haven’t yet been validated by elections officials, AP writes.
