Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said Friday President Barack Obama has asked him to develop a plan within 90 days on how to spur job creation in Michigan’s largest city, Chad Livengood reports in the Detroit News.

The mayor and president had lunch at the Michigan State University’s Biotechnology Institute in Lansing before Obama signed a five-year farm bill at an MSU equestrian facility before a crowd of 500 onlookers.

After the bill signing, Duggan told reporters he pitched ideas on how to put Detroiters back to work as the city struggles to exit the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

“I have a very specific idea on ways to bring jobs back into the city of Detroit, he was interested in it and I have some work to do now,” Duggan told reporters.
