In a down-to-the-wire deal, the Detroit Tigers have acquired All-Star left-hander David Price, 28, numerous media reports say. The blockbuster trade is a three-team deal also involving the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners.

The trade for the 6-foot 6 Price should help the Tigers as the team goes down the stretch looking for a World Series win.

Anything short of that will be a disappointment to most Tigers fans.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports first reported the Tigers had landed Price, and Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweeted that the Tigers gave up starting pitcher Drew Smyly and center fielder Austin Jackson as part of the three-way deal.
