The death toll claims keep rising.

The Detroit News reports that the General Motors's ignition switch compensation fund has received 284 claims as of last Friday,  and 100 of those are for deaths.

The 100 death claims far exceeds the 13 deaths GM has admitted to in connection with the ignition switch scandal.

The News reported that a week earlier, the number of death claims was at 87.

The fund began taking applications Aug. 1. The fund has yet to determine if the deaths claims are eligible for compensation, the News reported.

The fund will accept claims through Dec. 31.
