Dr. Farid Fata, the oncologist accused of big-time Medicare fraud and  unnecessary chemotherapy to patients,  had interest in 2010 in buying a $3 million castle overlooking a Lebanon seaside resort, The Detroit News reports.

Robert Snell writes that the information was contained in an FBI search warrant affidavit unsealed in federal court.

Snell reports that the  search warrant was executed in November and sought the contents of Fata’s Hotmail email account to help trace tens of millions of dollars that flowed through his various entities and may have been obtained through Medicare fraud.

In August  2010, an email exchange between Fata of Oakland Township and his financial adviser mentioned the castle, the article says.

“I need a favor from you,” Fata wrote. “My dad has a great deal on a castle all furnished in Adma/Lebanon!...Can you pls get in contact with my dad and go see the house! It is for $3,000000...Let me know if you can see the house. What is the economic benefit and the housing market in Adma? Is there an economical value in investing in such house?”

The email asked if he could use funds from his numerous trusts to pay for the property and asked that his financial advisor provide guidance, according to The News.

It's unclear what transpired after that.
