The NFL is investigating incidents at Sunday's Detroit Lions-Buffalo Bills game at Ford Field in which a handheld green laser was pointed at Bills players to distract them, station WKBW reports.
Dr. James Reidy, from the University at Buffalo Ross Eye Institute, said the green lasers can cause permanent eye damage even with just a short exposure, the station reports.
The station reports that people using the laser could face criminal prosecution.
The FBI has been cracking down on people who point lasers at aircraft.
