Forbes magazine ranks the Detroit Red Wings #9 in value among the NHL teams.
The magazine pegged the team's worth at $570 million and reported a revenue in 2013-2014 of $134 million and an operating Income during that time of $15.2 million.
Bill Shea of Crain's Detroit Business noted that the team saw a 21 percent increase in the team's value.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were ranked #1 with a $1.3 billion valuation.
The magazine wrote:
Ilitch Holdings, the Ilitch family's holding company that owns the NHL’s Red Wings and MLB’s Detroit Tigers, is scheduled to open a new arena during the summer of 2017, replacing Joe Louis Arena, the oldest arena in the NHL.
