The TV show "Preachers of Detroit," which will debut Feb. 18 on the Oxygen channel, is among five projects  approved for incentives from the Michigan Film Office.

The office announced Monday that the show, will get a film incentive of  $405,811 on $1,393,255 of projected in-state expenditures.  The project is expected to hire 85 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of 12 jobs.

The other projects include, "Mickey Matson" and the "Helm of Darkness" which will film in Ludington, Manistee and Mackinac Island, the film office said. The other four projects will be produced in Metro Detroit.

The state describes the Mickey Matson and Helm of Darkness film this way:

Mickey Matson and the Helm of Darkness centers on a mythical battle helmet worn by the Greek god Hades that gives the bearer powers of invisibility and mind control. Hidden away for centuries, it surfaces in Northern Michigan where Mickey Matson must keep it safe from those who would use it for evil.

The other projects are: the feature film "Destined"; film "Tommy Battles the Silver Seat Dragon"; and mobile app, "1-To-1 Fan."

The state describes 1-To-1 Fan as a "a mobile app that will provide a digital gathering place for fans of sports stars. Customers create and customize their mobile app, via an interactive game, to allow them to follow major athletes through social channels as well as engaging with other fans and in marketing events."
