3-13: Today At 3:13 Is An Apt Time to Display Your Detroit Love

March 12, 2015, 6:24 AM

Friday's date -- 3/13 -- is too symbolic locally to ignore.

So there'll be a celebration for the fourth straight year, with a march, a museum event and a #313DLove tag for tweets.

"An event like 313DLove is needed," Karen Dybis writes at Detroit Unspun, the Detroit Regional News Hub's blog. She describes it as "a moment to show off your love without doubt, without haters, without hesitation."

Those wanting to do more than tweet can join a 10 a.m. community walk that starts at the Charles H. Wright Museum and is sponsored by United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

From 1-5 p.m. at the museum, speakers will include real estate executive David Farbman, storyteller Satori Shakoor, filmmaker Anthony Brogdon, Allyson Jones of United Way and Dr. Partha Nandi. Entry costs is $33. (Tickets are available here.)

Organizer Terry Bean, founder of Motor City Connect, tells Dybis that "313DLove is all about actions worth emulating." He encourages city supporters to use the hashtag in 3:13 p.m. tweets telling what they love about Detroit.
